Hi! My name is Sharon and I ADORE Christmas! Our house includes three Christmas trees (L to R: 6′ “A Christmas Story” themed, 7′ “Travel” themed, 9′ “Everything Else” themed)
I have the entire set of the “A Christmas Story” Dept. 56 series. I bake (a LOT). An I’ve been told we have the best decorated house in the neighborhood 😉 (and yeah, that’s Santa’s legs sticking out of our chimney, stars on the roof and 9 flamingos pulling a sleigh on the lawn – we live in Florida, y’know)
So how I, who constantly Googles places to travel to, never heard of Castle Noel is beyond me. But now that I have, I want to go! Take a look…
Located in Medina, OH (that’s about 33 miles south of Cleveland and 23 miles west of Akron) Castle Noel houses the world’s largest privately owned collection of Hollywood Christmas movie props and costumes from Christmas movies such as “The Grinch,” “Elf,” “Santa Claus The Movie,” “Fred Claus,” “The Santa Clause 1, 2 & 3,” “Jingle All The Way,” and others.
They also own several of the animated Christmas windows from New York City, including Saks Fifth Avenue, Bloomingdale’s, Lord & Taylor and Macy’s.
They have the “I Had That” Toyland Experience, which is filled with thousands of toys from the 50s through the 80s (Oh, and that KerPlunk game and turquoise Easy Bake Oven? I totally had those).
On top of all that, they have Blizzard Vortex, Santa’s Chimney Squeeze and a 25’ tall animated Christmas tree. It snows inside and you can even ride a slide, just like Ralphie did in “A Christmas Story” (guests over 80 years old who ride the slide become a part of their “Wall of Fame.” To date, their oldest slide rider was 101 1/2 years old).
Castle Noel gives tours of the whole 40,000 square foot complex (each tour lasts about 1.5 to 2 hours), and offers optional mini golf, “Elf Labs” fun with Santa (you get to meet the big guy, too!), Crafts with Mrs. Claus, and other activities to get or keep you in the Christmas spirit.
Castle Noel is open every day of the year except Easter, Memorial Day, July 4, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Years day. Tours cost $19.50 per person and kids 3 and under are free.
