First All-Inclusive Resort In The Florida Keys Goes Up In Flames

a house on fire at night

Bungalows Key Largo was billed as the first all-inclusive resort in the Florida Keys. Just recently opened in December 2018, this adults-only luxury waterfront resort, just an hour south of Miami, it had already amassed a 4.5 star rating on TripAdvisor and had gotten the attention of the likes of TravelPulse, Conde Nast Traveler, Travel + Leisure, and other travel-related social media outlets. A little closer to home, Mike and Shawn of Miles To Memories wrote about Bungalows Key Largo just this past February.

Unfortunately, Bungalows’ great start came to a sudden halt when an overnight fire broke out at the resort a few nights ago, resulting in extensive damage.

Monroe County firefighters received a call shortly before 5am on Sunday, May 5, about a fire at the resort. They battled the blaze until 10am.

“The restaurant building at Bungalows burned. The entire upstairs burned, and we are still working the scene trying to get to the hot areas,” Chief Don Bock with the Key Largo Volunteer Fire Department told the Miami Herald on Sunday morning.

All guests were safely evacuated from their bungalows and no injuries were reported.

Bungalows’ website states that the resort is closed at this time.

Due to an early morning fire on Sunday, May 5th which was, isolated within the Beach House, all guests and associates were evacuated safely, and there were no injuries. The balance of the resort was not affected. The state and local fire departments responded immediately.

At this time, we will be closed until further notice. To stay up to date on our re-opening date, please subscribe to our News & Offers.

For those guests with existing reservations, our Reservations Team will be contacting you to rebook for future dates, or you can reach us directly at (866) 801-0195.

The team at The Bungalows Key Largo would like to thank the Key Largo Fire Department and other Keys Fire Rescue agencies for the swift action taken and community support during this time.
