Since Disney announced their streaming video service called Disney+, they have been aggressively marketing it to potential customers. The most invested Disney fans, those who are members of the Disney Official Fan Club, called D23, were able to get a discount of $23/year with a 3-year subscription.
Thanks to a post on Miles to Memories, I was able to get in on this offer.
While that one’s gone, Disney is still offering discounts on the Disney+ service. The one problem is, they’re all targeted offers.
Disney Visa Cardholders & Disney Movie Rewards Members
This offer was sent to cardholders of the Disney Visa card and those who are in the Disney Movie Rewards Club. Unlike the D23 offer, this one has a two-year option as well.
- Three-year subscription for $169.99 (Save $40)
- Two-year subscription for $119.99 (Save $20)
This offer ends on September 30, 2019, so if you’re eligible, better get moving.
Disney Vacation Club Members
I also received an email from Disney Vacation Club with the same offer but it’s available through October 11, 2019.
Final Thoughts
Disney needs the Disney+ service to be a success and they’re doing a good job with unique content and competitive pricing. It’s obvious they want to lock people into multi-year contracts instead of month to month service.
They’re targeting those who are already interested in Disney, starting with those who are in the fan club, own a DVC timeshare or are in the Disney Movie Rewards program (I’ve also read Disney has offered a discount to Annual Passholders but I haven’t seen anything on that one – and we’re annual passholders!). These people already spend money on Disney stuff so it should be an easy sell if the price is right.
While these offers end soon, I wouldn’t be surprised to see another deal come around either before the service starts on November 12th or shortly thereafter.
