I don’t know what it is about restaurant bathrooms that make designers feel they have carte blanche to make bold decisions on what’s appropriate and what’s not.
I saw this quote at the Oceanaire Seafood room:
While that’s slightly off, nothing beats the tile work in the men’s room at Pioneer Hall next to the Hoop De Doo Review at Walt Disney World:
I thought nothing would be stranger.
Then I walked into this bathroom at a restaurant in Brooklyn that was lit only by candlelight (I later found the light switch on the wall but I didn’t find it when I entered and needed to use the bathroom):
While in the room I was focused on the sign on the wall:
While I thought was interesting, when I texted it to Sharon (and yes I texted a sign from a bathroom to my wife), she asked if the sign should have said movement and not moment.
That’s our relationship in a nutshell.
While the room was dark and lit by candlelight, I somewhat wanted my bathroom at home to be a little more like this. Mainly because that candle smelled wonderful, even it was in a bathroom.
