While Working From Home, I Busted Out My Vintage Disney T-Shirt Collection

a shirt with a cartoon on it

The end of this week is going to be the first time in two months I’ve left the house to go to work. It’s also the first time in two months that I’ve had to wear pants. No, I haven’t been working in pajamas the entire time but I don’t have the type of job where I need to be on Zoom chats all day. Doing my job from home in t-shirts and jeans was totally acceptable.

To keep myself entertained, I decided to wear a different vintage t-shirt every day of my work from home assignment. I found out/remembered that I have a LARGE number of vintage Disney t-shirts; so large I never had to repeat and I still had more to wear.

Since retro is cool, I didn’t feel bad about wearing them out of the house. One day I had to run to Home Depot and forgot what I was wearing. Turns out it was a Disney-MGM Studios Fantasmic shirt.

Her comment was “Cool Shirt! Where’d you get it?” I replied that I bought it at Disney MGM-Studios in 1998 and it’s not retro. I’m just old enough to have bought it when it was released.

IMHO, it’s still a cool design.

As it turns out, I still like many of these shirts. Like this one with a pirate Mickey:

Or one of the more classic Twilight Zone Tower of Terror designs:

Or what might be my favorite Magic Kingdom t-shirt design EVER! It’s two-sided!!

There’s even the one we got when we visited the soda fountain next to the El Capitan in Hollywood:

Or when I visited The Disney Store at The Forum Shops in Las Vegas:

But by far the oldest shirt I found that still fit was one from Walt Disney World’s 20th Anniversary Celebration:

When you realize that Walt Disney World is turning 50 in October 2021, that puts this t-shirt at around 28 or 29 years old. Sure the decal is starting to crack but don’t we all start to show some age when we get that old. 🙂

Pfew, at least it wasn’t a t-shirt from the 25th Anniversary. Or have you forgotten the Pepto Bismol Castle Cake?
