This Airport Wants To Know How Willing You Are To Fly

I’m always encouraged when a large entity wants to get our opinions. True, it’s done to help them decide what their next move(s) will be but with our input, depending on the topic, it sometimes means their next move will be something that we’re more interested in (I’m kind of an insider on the topic of surveys; I worked for a marketing research company in a mall for 5 years. Yep, back in the mid-late ’80s I was an annoying person with a clipboard, asking innocent passersby what they thought about upcoming movies (Spaceballs and Revenge of The Nerds both come to mind) or if they wanted to sample some new version of Coke or Pepsi (Pepsi Slice, anyone?). Oh, what I could tell you about the concept of “mouthfeel” and the appropriate level of carbonation…).

Anyway, the leaders of Orlando International Airport have released a survey to get an idea of whether or not people are comfortable with traveling at the moment and, if they are, what types of travel they’d be interested in.

The survey asks questions about business vs. leisure travel, traveling via your own car, a rental car, or flying, as well as respondents’ thoughts about domestic vs. leisure travel.

“The leisure market is going to come back first domestically, then what we call “VFR,” visiting friends and relatives, and then the business,” said Vicki Jaramillo, Orlando International Airport’s senior director of marketing and air service development.

The airport intends to share the results with the airlines that use MCO. So far it’s good news for the airlines though – “Over 65% said they feel very comfortable, (that) they would be flying,” said Jaramillo.

There’s no word on when the survey will end, but for as long as it’s still running, you can click here if you’d like to take part.
