The Best Waste Of Time I Ever Spent In A Disney Hotel Room

a room with a bed and a couch

This weekend, we spent our first time in a hotel room since the pandemic shut down travel. We’re still #teamroadtripsonly so we drove to Disney’s Vero Beach Resort, which is part of the Disney Vacation Club (Disney’s version of a time share) arm of the company.

While we previously stayed at an Airbnb a couple of months ago, the couple sharing our cabin arrived a couple of hours before us and cleaned all surfaces with Lysol spray and paper towels [Note from Sharon: Cuz Normy & Sam rock!].

This was our first time walking into a room after a previous guest. We felt that it was necessary to clean all the surfaces, even if the hotel said they had sanitized the room before our arrival.

We believed them and all – we just would feel safer if we knew we had done it ourselves.

After wiping down the tables, chair arms, telephone, remotes, bathroom surfaces, light switches, handles/knobs, and even the top of the TV, our paper towels were spotless.

I realize that means they might have only been cleaned recently, and not necessarily right after the last guest. But it did mean that the room received a really thorough cleaning at some recent point before our arrival. Our secondary cleaning would just have caught any places they might have missed.

Whatever the result, I’d rather have spent 20 minutes cleaning surfaces and not find any uncleaned areas instead of wiping down a table and ending up with a dirty towel.

After finishing up our sweep and finding nothing, it was much easier to relax and enjoy our weekend.
