I was interested when I saw an email today from Chase, promoting its new Sapphire dining program. The teaser quote caught my eye as this is what we’re looking for when we’re not cooking at home.

Takeout, virtual dining experiences, outdoor seating reservations and more. Plus, your points are worth 25% more from now through 4/30/2021 when you redeem for dining through Ultimate Rewards®

Offers on takeout and outdoor seating experiences? Count us in. The chance to use Chase Ultimate Rewards points for these experiences at a 25% discount is a bonus.

I logged into the website and looked for experiences around Orlando. There were several options. Most of these dinners are targeted at a higher tier of clientele. One of the special dinners is at the ultra-fancy Four Seasons at Disney World.

At $125 to $175 a person, these experiences are a little out of our normal price range. In addition to the price, we’re not ready to sit down for a long dinner inside anywhere, even if the restaurant says they’re following government protocols. Remember that Florida restaurants are now allowed to be open for indoor dining at 100% capacity. It appears many participating locations are limiting guests for social distancing, even not legally required.

There were some less expensive places on the list, like a bar on International Drive from which you can order burgers for takeout.

There’s also a speakeasy whisky bar that’s selling to-go cocktails. Does anyone want an Old Fashioned for the road?

During pre-COVID-19 times, we’d be looking more at these special event dining experiences. However, only one of the list’s choices mentioned anything about outdoor dining, which is the most important thing to us right now when eating out.

Hopefully, the Chase Ultimate Rewards Dining Hub lasts past the pandemic and we’ll eventually be able to attend one of these special events.
