Not Even The President Can Escape This Travel Pet Peeve

a man sitting in a chair with his head in his hands

While I spent much of the day watching the various ceremonies commemorating the swearing-in of a new President of the United States, there was plenty of downtime between events. Honestly, I’ve never watched the day’s events that closely before because I didn’t really care about the traditions of the day. Once the swearing-in was over, it meant we had a new president and I could go along with my day.  It just seemed like today the ceremony and tradition of the day were more important.

However, I spent much of the rest of the day scrolling the internet. Scrolling through Bernie sitting in lawnchair memes and people comparing Lary Gaga’s singing of the National Anthem to Whitney Houston’s.

One thing I didn’t expect was the travel-related tweets coming from Roy Wood, Jr. He’s no stranger to politics, working with The Daily Show, but he totally nailed a travel grump we all know with a single tweet.

We’ve all been there. No matter your status or how good a room you booked, you better not show up before check-in time. On our last trip to London, we spent several hours in the St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel lounge, waiting for our suite to be ready.

Just in case you were wondering if this was a one-off travel-related joke, Roy dug a level deeper with his next response.

You just referenced Amtrak’s loyalty program? OK, what other travel jokes you got?

I’m gonna start following him on Twitter to see if he starts making jokes about American Airlines’ in-flight meals or how worthless Marriott Bonvoy Silver status is.
