Transportation Security Administration (TSA)has recently added five more airlines that participate in its expedited screening program. They include:
- Aerolane Lineas Aereas Nacionales del Ecuador
- Air Choice One
- LAN Peru S.A.
- LATAM Airlines Group
- TAM-Linhas Aereas S.A.
As per a recent press release from the TSA, this brings the total number of TSA PreCheck participating domestic and international carriers, which had previously been 77, to 82. Here’s a list of them.
Established in 1979, Air Choice One is a regional American airline, headquartered in Concord, Missouri in the Greater St Louis area. Their main focus is commuter flights.
The other four airlines collectively offer an extensive range of destinations throughout South America, with headquarters in, respectfully, Ecuador, Peru, Chile and Brazil.
Other “fun facts” about TSA PreCheck (some from the press release, some from us):
- TSA PreCheck is an expedited screening program that enables low-risk travelers to enjoy a smart and efficient screening experience at more than 200 U.S. airports.
- TSA PreCheck is available for eligible passengers when departing from a U.S. airport or when connecting on domestic flights after returning to the United States. Travelers who are U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals and U.S. lawful permanent residents can apply for TSA PreCheck for a cost of $85 for a five-year membership.
- Other passengers who are eligible for TSA PreCheck include members of the three U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s Trusted Traveler programs – Global Entry (even if you’re not from the U.S.!), NEXUS and SENTRI (here’s how to decide which of those is best for you). It’s also available (for FREE!) for U.S. Armed Forces service members, including those serving in the U.S. Coast Guard, Reserves, and National Guard.
- Enrolled airline passengers should look for the TSA Pre✓® indicator (such as TSAPRECHK, TSA PRE, or TSA Pre✓®) on their boarding pass to know if they are eligible for TSA PreCheck screening before their flight.
