Orlando Airport New Terminal 70% Complete – Here’s What’ll Be There When It Opens

a building with a glass wall

Orlando International Airport has been working on the South Terminal for what seems like forever. The new terminal consists of a new parking garage (which is already open), 18 new gates, and a train station for the Brightline, which will Orlando to West Palm Beach and onto Miami, with future plans for a WDW connection, as well..

You’ve been able to walk around some of the terminal areas for a while and if that’s any indication of what the final product will look like, we’re really excited to see this place open.

The Greater Orlando Aviation Authority recently updated its website to show the work in progress compared to the concept pictures.

One other point of interest from the presentation at a recent meeting was more information about Palm Court, the post-security area.

I believe this is the first time we’ve gotten to see what shops/restaurants are planned for the area.

It’s no surprise to see that Disney, Universal and Sea World all have acquired large retail spaces in the terminal. What I’m more interested in are the food selections. There’s a Starbucks and Auntie Anne’s, but some local restaurants are also in the mix. There’s a Provisions by Cask and Larder, which I’m guessing is a grab & go concept based on the restaurant and bar in the North Terminal.  I also spotted Wine Bar George on the map. This is great since Wine Bar George is one of the best places to eat and drink at Disney Springs. To date, this has been the only location and I’m glad to see it getting a chance to expand.

Here’s a video from GOAA about the project and its progress.
