If you get a plane ticket with frequent flyer miles, your out-of-pocket costs are usually minimal. But if you’re paying for your tickets with money, you want to make sure you get the best rate possible.
Joe has written about how to find cheap airfare and everything he said is 100% true. But one thing he neglected to mention was airline promo codes.
Promo codes for a set amount or a percentage off flights can potentially save you hundreds of dollars. When you book tickets directly on the airline’s website, you’ll usually see a box for a promo code. But unless you have a promo code handy, that box isn’t going to do you any good 😉
Here’s where you can sign up to start receiving promo codes for each airline:
The offers vary from airline to airline. The legacy airlines, Delta, American and United, rarely offer promo codes, while lower-cost carriers like Frontier and Southwest will offer them on a regular basis. JetBlue regularly offers promo codes, but also has lots of flash sales on their dedicated JetBlue Cheeps Twitter account. Sun Country has been known to give nice discounts on companion fares.
Once you have a promo code, you can input it into the box and voila, you have a discount!
