CLEAR Is Offering Extensions (Even If You’ve Received One Before)

Many of the essentials for frequent travelers became irrelevant over the past year. One of the most obvious services that was no longer necessary when people weren’t traveling was CLEAR. The purpose of the service was to speed you through security at the airport. If you, nor anyone else, is flying and the TSA checkpoints are empty, why pay for service that gets you to the front of the line?

To keep paying customers happy, CLEAR was extending memberships if you asked them. After I paid my renewal back in 2020, I sent a Direct Message via Twitter and received an additional 3 months of membership for free.

That was back in April 2020 and we haven’t taken a flight for the entire year.

My membership was due to renew at the end of the month. While I hadn’t flown for the past year, we have two (or maybe 3-4) flights planned for the rest of 2021 and with reports of TSA checkpoints being packed, it might be a good idea to keep our CLEAR memberships. Since I never pay full price and get most of the fee reimbursed by our AMEX Green card, I was willing to pay for another 12 months.

That was, until I saw this post from the Doctor of Credit reporting that CLEAR was extending memberships for customers even if they’ve received an extension previously.

I sent a DM to CLEAR on Twitter (which is the same way I extended my membership in 2020.) It took almost a day but I got the response that I wanted.

If you’ve been paying for CLEAR through the pandemic, it can’t hurt to ask them for an extension. It only takes a few seconds to message them on Twitter.
