Our second ever Airbnb stay was when we rented a cabin in Georgia for four nights. We made this cabin our home base and spent plenty of time lounging on the couch, watching TV.
While the cabin had DirecTV with many stations, one of the first things we did after getting settled was to set up our streaming accounts. I needed to log into my Disney+ and Amazon Prime accounts, but I didn’t have to worry when it came to Netflix. That’s because Becky already set up her account on the TV. Who is Becky? I have no idea, but I assume she stayed at the cabin sometime before we did. We watched Netflix on her account for our stay, since she never logged out. I sure hope she likes “Somebody Feed Phil.”
Since I have in-app purchasing set up on my Amazon account, I made sure to log off when we were done watching TV on our last night. I also logged out of my Disney+, cleared our YouTube history, and even logged Becky out of her Netflix account.
While many people don’t give a second thought about logging into their streaming accounts when staying at a hotel or rental property, it’s equally important to log out of your account when you leave. However, I’ve seen several hotels now explicitly saying that they wipe the accounts from the TV after every stay. If you forget to log out, don’t be surprised if you see some strange suggestions pop up when you’re asked to continue watching a show you’ve never seen.
