Uber Eats Driver Tried To Pull A Fast One But Was Caught In The Act

We’ve written before about the various scams Uber, Lyft and other ridesharing drivers have thought up:

This is a new one though, thought up by an Uber Eats driver.

A man in Blackpool, UK had ordered just shy £40 (about $49U.S.) on Chinese food to be delivered to his door via Uber Eats. His name was Jon. Jon waited and waited but the food never showed up. So he contacted Uber Eats to ask for a refund.

Uber Eats told him that the driver had already delivered the food and taken a picture of it to prove as much. So nope, no refund.

But the guy knew he had never gotten his food. He also had something that the Uber Eats driver obviously didn’t know about – CCTV.

He looked at the footage and sure enough, the driver had stopped outside the guy’s door, walked up the path, took the food out of a box, took a photo of the food, picked it back up again, and left, taking the food with him.

Can you IMAGINE?

Jon showed the video evidence to Uber Eats, who was then happy to reimburse him.

An Uber representative was quoted as saying, “Couriers working with us are expected to follow strict community guidelines on delivering orders and what has been described is totally unacceptable.

‘I can confirm we have refunded Jon in full and are investigating this report.”

I should hope so! Good thing Jon had the CCTV running, huh? Someone who didn’t have cameras set up wouldn’t be so lucky.

One more thing to be aware of when dealing with any sort of Uber.
