Some New (To Me) Discounts For CLEAR

a group of blue and white machines

In some ways, CLEAR has been a game-changer in terms of saving time. At airports, the system allows members to bypass the typical queues before the TSA security checkpoint. This allows you to shave off a few minutes if you have TSA PreCheck, but if you don’t have that, it can save you significantly more time, since queues at many airports are pretty much astronomical nowadays.

That being said, CLEAR, as a private entity, doesn’t come cheap. Although they offer free trials for short periods of time (usually varying amounts of months, depending on whatever specials, codes or memberships they’re offering at any given time), the rack rate is currently $189 per person, per year.

If you decide you want to become a CLEAR member, there are a few ways to knock that price down:

I’m not going to go into huge thing about how to get all of these discounts. It’s all been done, and a simple Google of CLEAR DISCOUNT will give you (literally) a billion hits.

Of course, not everyone has or wants any of the Amex cards that can get you free or partial credit on CLEAR membership. And maybe, for some reason, you don’t have or want a (free) Delta or United frequent flyer account to get you a discount that way. Welp, as it turns out, I just found a couple of new discounts to get CLEAR.

It may not be NEW new. And for all I know, it may only be new to me LOLOL! And I also don’t know how long this offer is going to last. But…

If you look at CLEAR’s eGift Card page, there are several options:

You can get these eGift cards to give as a gift, or to buy for yourself.

If you’re a CLEAR member, you can add up to 3 family members (age 18+. Kids are free) to your account for $60 each. $189 + $60 (for the first person) = $249. So getting it for 2 people for 12 months is actually $10 less.

Oh, and by the way, as far as CLEAR is concerned, “family” can be anyone. From CLEAR’s website (boldface is mine, for emphasis):

Who can be on my Family Plan?

The Family Plan helps you and your loved ones enjoy CLEAR together, whether it’s your biological family, chosen family, or friends that feel like family. It’s totally up to you!

Individuals on your Family Plan do need to meet the enrollment requirements, which means that they must be 18 or older and have a valid US photo ID.

Kids under 18 can go through the CLEAR Lane for free when accompanied by a CLEAR member. There’s no need to add them to your Family Plan.

Again, the discounts via Delta, United and/or Amex are MUCH better. But if those aren’t options for you, at least you can save a few dollars. Every little bit helps.
