Flying For Thanksgiving? It’s Probably Too Late To Find Airport Parking

a parking lot full of cars

I received an email this week with a discount coupon as an anniversary gift from Orlando Airport’s The Parking Spot.

While I’m happy about the discount code, it reminds me why I had to use The Parking Spot in the first place.

In 2018 I planned a trip to New York City to see the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. While I took care of the flights and hotel, I forgot about arrangements for parking our car and where our dog would stay over the holiday weekend. Thankfully I found a place to park at the Parking Spot and our vet was able to find room for Dobby. She even was named “Pet of the week” on their Facebook page.

Enough about how cute our dog is and let’s get back to travel planning.

Even before the pandemic, our preferred off-airport parking lot often reached capacity for those without reservations. Overcrowing became more of an issue over the summer, with the lot reaching capacity over each holiday weekend.

I needed to book a parking spot after Thanksgiving so I went to the Fast Park & Relax website and received the “don’t even think about parking here” banner ad.

Our Orlando Fast Park facility is stuffed and is no longer accepting new reservations. Please email orlandofp@thefastpark.com to check real-time availability.

The same goes for the local WallyPark location.

We’re sorry. Due to busy holiday travel, our Orlando location is currently full through Saturday, November 26th. We are able to accept bookings for stays starting on Sunday, November 27th and later.

The Parking Spot is still accepting reservations, but they’ve started surge pricing and parking fees start at $30 per day.

Thankfully I was able to make a reservation for after the holiday weekend, as the travel rush will be over.

However, if you need airport parking for the Christmas holiday, make those reservations now. If not, you’re going to be scrambling for parking as we did during our Thanksgiving trip.
