Super Bowl Needs People To Go To AZ & Help With Halftime Show

a large crowd of people on a football field

People travel for all sorts of reasons. Vacations. Business. Family/friend events. Mission trips. Conventions. Concerts. Sporting events.

Speaking of sporting events, here’s a more unusual reason to travel: the Super Bowl is currently looking for about 300 field team members to assist with the performance stage and scenic elements for the Super Bowl LVII halftime show, which will star Rihanna.

“We are thrilled to welcome Rihanna to the Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show stage,” said Seth Dudowsky, NFL Head of Music. “Rihanna is a once in a generation artist who has been a cultural force throughout her career. We look forward to collaborating with Rihanna, Roc Nation and Apple Music to bring fans another historic Halftime Show performance.”

The game is scheduled to be played on February 12, 2023, at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.

According to their ad, field team members must be over the age of 18, in good physical health, and able to commit to all posted rehearsals in their entirety.

As of this writing, the rehearsal schedule, which is tentative and subject to change, is:

Field team members will be paid $13.85 per hour for all rehearsals and Super Bowl Sunday.

As part of the application process, each team member will undergo a background check including, without limitation, through one or more criminal justice agencies for security purposes. You’ll be required to provide additional information, read and sign an authorization for release of personal information and acknowledgment of criminal history background check at their orientation, or the first rehearsal you attend.

Requirements of the position include:

  1. You are or will be over the age of 18 prior to January 1, 2023, and are eligible to work legally in the United States.
  2. You understand that the field team position will require you to push, pull, bend and lift up to 50 pounds of weight. You are fully able to perform these essential duties, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  3. You have checked the current posted schedule at superbowlproductions.com, and you are able to attend all posted field team rehearsals in their entirety.
  4. You are aware that being a part of the field team does not allow you the opportunity to watch the Super Bowl.

If you’re interested and want to apply, or just want more information, go to Super Bowl Productions’ website.

Obviously, at $13.25/hour, this isn’t an opportunity that’ll make you rich. But as someone who is a huge proponent of YOLO and doing things “because I could” (hello, hosting a second line parade in New Orleans, going to Cuba, spelunking in lava tubes in Hawaii, canyoneering in Utah, becoming a Baroness and an ordained minister, etc.),  I would jump at this opportunity in a SECOND if I lived in the area (or, since I don’t, if I wasn’t married and didn’t want to be away from Joe for 2 weeks).
