22 Countries in 56 Days for $26K! Just One Thing…

a map of europe with black text

People who have a lot of money don’t seem to mind spending a lot of money. They’re willing to pay for big, luxurious adventures that show they’ve “made it.” You know, stuff like the Four Seasons World Tour Packages that featured travel on  Four Seasons’ own luxury private jet (we know someone who went on one). Or maybe they’re Disney fans who are interested in Adventures by Disney’s special tours that cost $110K (hey you’ll get an airline seat with a 45-degree recline and EVERYTHING!). Or perhaps they stay at one of the 20 most expensive hotels in the world.

Welp, there’s a new “world travel” offering out there. It lasts 8 weeks. You’ll get to go to 22 countries across Europe, covering just shy of 7,460 miles. It costs $24,350.

And how will you get from place to place? By bus.

Established in 2012, Adventures Overland is a tour company that touts itself for allowing you to explore the world differently. That’s definitely true, because instead of traveling by air or boat, they offer road trips. They’ve offered these trips, usually by car, but some with buses, through a total of 70 countries, across 6 continents.

This tour, which they call their Bus To London tour, will be on a modified luxury 30-seat bus.

The tour starts in Istanbul and winds its way around the Balkans, Eastern Europe, the Baltics, Scandinavia and Western Europe, with stops in:

Week 1

Week 2

Week 3

Week 4

Week 5

Week 6

Week 7

Week 8

Here’s a map of the route:

And what will you see in these countries? They explain it best:

As part of the journey, you will flag off from Istanbul in Turkey, visit the Balkan cities of Sofia, Belgrade, Zagreb and Ljubljana, unwind in Eastern European cities of Vienna, Bratislava, Prague and Warsaw and witness pages of history with a visit to the concentration camp in Auschwitz, Poland. You will continue north through the Baltic countries of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia before crossing the Gulf of Finland and arrive in Scandinavia where you will experience the Nordic traditions in Finland, the stunning natural beauty and Fjords in Norway and reach the summit of Bus to London as you touch Nord Kapp, the northern most point of European continent accessible by road. Scandinavia will treat you with unparalleled experiences like witnessing the Northern Lights, visiting a Santa Village, hopping on EV Ferries, taking the world famous Great Atlantic Ocean Road enroute to the cities of Tromso, Bergen, Oslo, Stockholm and Copenhagen before concluding the journey in London via Germany, Netherlands, Belgium and France!

The bus, of course, is state-of-the-art, with folding trays, USB outlets, etc. It’s still “just” a bus lavatory though, so plan accordingly.

The group size will be a maximum of 30 people, 4 or 5 of which will be guides. With so many different countries involved, it would typically be a lot of paperwork to get visas, etc. However Adventure Overland says they take care of most of the visas from their end (if you’re Indian, they take care of all the visas).

Hotels, meals and snacks are also included in the cost of the tour.

The tour starts in early August and Adventure Overland says about half of the seats have been sold already.
