Delta Pax Watches ‘The Office,’ Clueless He’s Sitting Next to Rainn Wilson

I know, I know…the title of that sounds like it should be on The Takeoff Nap or something. But apparently it’s a true story.

Rainn Wilson was on a Delta flight the other day. He was flying first class, apparently in an aisle seat. The guy sitting next to him was eating his meal and watching TV. Watching The Office, to be exact.

That typically wouldn’t be such a big deal – some guy in a window sat, watching TV. Except that, of course, that Wilson was one of the stars of The Office. He played Dwight Schrute, the hard working alpha male in the Emmy Award winning NBC sitcom that ran from 2005 to 2013.

And window seat guy had no idea he was sitting next to him.

Wilson took a video of the event and initially posted it on his social media, although it appears to be deleted now. But of course, the internet what it is, it wasn’t gone before lots of people captured it.

“When the person sitting next to you has no idea who you are…” he writes in the video, shaking his head. He then pans to his row mate watching TV, and then back to himself.

To be fair, Wilson is pretty unrecognizable in the video. He’s wearing a face mask and a hat. He’s also not wearing the glasses that were pretty much a hallmark accessory for his character, Dwight Schrute.

Still, under the circumstances, it was a funny “non-encounter.”

This wasn’t the first time Wilson took to the internet about the flights he’s been on.
