I’m generally not one to get excited about obtaining a new credit card. However, there’s something about the Ritz Carlton Card that makes it feel different. Maybe it’s because you can’t apply for the card, since it’s only available if you upgrade from another Marriott Bonvoy personal credit card offered by Chase.
I think it’s unique because Chase treats the Ritz Carlton Card like it’s important. The day after Sharon spoke to a Chase representative, we received a notice from UPS alerting us that a package would arrive by Next Day Air. Within three days of the call, we had the card in our hands. Impressive. Since I knew there was more than an envelope in the box, I took pictures as I went along.
The mailer contained a sleek black box with an understated “The Ritz-Carlton Credit Card.”
Flipping the packing over, you’ll find a clasp holding everything together.
Inside you’ll find your Ritz-Carlton Card.
Opening the flap, there’s room for two cards if you’ve added an authorized user.
We received one of the newer metal cards, which only weighs 14 grams. (which is the same as the Sapphire Reserve.)
The rest of the package includes the welcome kit. Interestingly, the branding is from JP Morgan and not Chase. They’re targeting a specific market with this card.
The final thing in the packaging is a list of the card benefits. In another post, I’ll explain why I upgraded to a card with a $450 annual fee. 
Final Thought
I can’t remember when I received a new credit card with such well-designed packaging. The Ritz-Carlton Card feels substantial when you open the box, as opposed to of other cards which come in non-descript white envelopes.
I’ve wanted this card for a while but couldn’t justify holding it and the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant at the same time. Now that we’ve ditched that card, I feel OK about paying for the Ritz-Carlton Card.
