Delta Air Lines offers personalized transfers at hub airports to its best customers. Since around 2012, Delta has offered Diamond Medallion and Delta 360° members a transfer across the tarmac to their connecting flight in a Porsche. Given, the service was apparently random and you had a better chance if you have a close connection and were flying on Delta One.
If you have disposable income and want to try for a Porsche transfer, you can pay $350 for Delta VIP Select service. While there’s no promise of a Porsche transfer, it’s the only way to try and buy your way into the program.
We saw a passenger receive this service at JFK Airport. When we arrived at the gate there was a red Porsche waiting and a passenger was led to the car.
If that’s not special enough for you, then time is running out to get a ride in the Ultimate Delta Unicorn transfer at Atlanta Airport.
That’s because, until the end of July, Delta passengers have the opportunity to get a transfer across the tarmac in a Porsche 918 Spyder.
Accorsing to Porsche:
Porsche has made many outstanding sportscars – but few, if any, can match this hybrid-powered supercar. With its lightweight construction, innovative power unit and mind-blowing performance, it left the world reaching for superlatives when launched.
This car really is a unicorn.
The two-door 918 Spyder is a V8-powered plug-in hybrid all-wheel-drive hypercar that puts out 899 hp and can reach 62 mph in 2.6 seconds thanks to two electric motors helping out the 4.6-liter internal combustion engine. The concept was shown in 2010, and the monster machine was put into production three years later. The last customer-ready model left the factory in 2015. Only 918 units were ever built.
I don’t know what you need to do to get a ride in this rare supercar, but apparently, it helps to be the singer of the 80s group Air Supply.
Delta and Porsche have been offering these “Surprise & Delight” transfers for over a decade but time is running out to get a ride in one of these ultra-rare hybrid supercars at Atlanta Airport.
