Venture X Cardholders – Don’t Forget To Activate Hertz President Circle Status

The Venture X card from Capital One provides several perks for travelers. Some overlap other mid-range to luxury cards, such as Priority Pass club access and TSA Precheck/Global Entry reimbursement. However, there is one benefit of the Venture X that you’ll only find with one other luxury travel card – complimentary Hertz President’s Circle membership.

This is Hertz’s top-tier status and usually requires 15 rentals or spending $3000.

Capital One doesn’t remind you to activate this perk when you get the Venture X card; it took a few clicks on the website to find out how to do it. These directions are for a desktop, although I’d think the process is similar on mobile devices.

Once logged into your account,  click on the Redeem button in the Explore Rewards tab.

Then you’ll need to click on the Discover Travel tab.

Here’s where you’ll find a list of all the benefits the Venture X card offers. Click on the Hertz President’s Circle status.

That’s where you’ll be able to register for President’s Circle status by entering your account information. Make sure your name and email exactly match your existing Hertz account information. If you don’t already have a Hertz account, you can create one using the link.

I immediately received a message saying my account was verified and that my status would be updated within 24-72 hours.

It took a few days for my new status to show up on my account, but Hertz immediately added the Capital One Venture X discount code. By default, it was flagged as the primary discount. I needed to go back and put my corporate discount as the primary code to use when booking with Hertz, as I’ve found better rates using that than any other discounts available.

While the rental process isn’t different from if you have Five-Star status, you get a better selection of cars at the airport.
