Airport lounges have existed since the late 1930s. The very first one, American Airlines’ Admiral’s Lounge, opened at New York’s LaGuardia Airport (LGA) in 1939 (they opened another Admiral’s Club, this time in Washington National Airport (DCA), later the same year). Over the decades, more and more airport lounges opened, thanks to airlines and credit card companies that wanted to cater to their business and first-class passengers.
For a long time, lounge membership was only open to VIPs—business people, fliers with status, etc. However, it was a whole new world when airline credit cards started offering lounge access to those with certain credit cards. To this day, some elitist flyers probably still rue the day that “the great unwashed” was allowed into “their” lounges.
Fast forward a few more years, and a new type of lounge arrived: The Club. Unlike traditional airline-affiliated lounges, The Club doesn’t require a specific airline ticket or status. With a Priority Pass subscription (or a credit card that includes Priority Pass), you’re in. Even without Priority Pass, you can buy a day pass and enjoy the lounge.
There are over 20 The Club lounges—most are in the US, along with two in London and one in Hong Kong. However, this January, another The Club will open, this time at Jorge Chávez International Airport (LIM) in Lima, Peru.

Introducing The Club LIM
Aptly named The Club LIM (each one of The Clubs is named with the 3-letter code of the airport it’s in. So The Club ATL, The Club MCO, etc.), this facility will not only be the first The Club in South America, but it will also be the largest The Club in the world, at a record-breaking 19,763 square feet.
With a capacity for 454 guests, the lounge is designed to meet the varied needs of modern travelers. It includes dining areas, relaxation zones, workspaces with private meeting rooms, and a dedicated play area for children.

A Culinary Experience
Food is always important to lunge visitors, and The Club LIM will be prepared. Peruvian chef Ignacio Barrios Jacobs has crafted a menu blending regional ingredients with culinary traditions, offering travelers an authentic taste of Peru.
Accessibility and Pricing
The Club LIM is scheduled to open in January, 20205. It will be accessible to Priority Pass and LoungeKey members, as well as through the purchase of day passes. Day passes for The Club LIM will cost $55 and can be purchased at theclubairportlounges.com.
