Warning for Traveling Throughout the U.S. This Saturday

a group of people protesting

Note: This post contains useful information about large-scale upcoming events that are based in politics. It’s meant as a way for our readers to plan their travels this Saturday and is not political commentary. We don’t care which side of the political fence you lean on, who you voted for, or what you think of any government entity. Politically charged comments to this (and any other) post, regardless of whether it’s left or right leaning, will not be approved.

Washington D.C. parade

You’ve probably read about the military parade that’s scheduled for this Saturday, June 14th. It will kick off at 6:30 p.m. ET and will last for three hours, until 9:30 p.m. “The parade will take place on Constitution Ave NW between 15th Street and 23rd Street,” according to the organizers of the parade, America250.

Locally, the event will cause numerous streets in the area to be closed, with some closures lasting for days. Additionally, airline operations at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport will be temporarily suspended for part of the day on June 14 to accommodate flyovers and a planned fireworks display.

“The FAA will implement traffic management initiatives (TMI) at DCA before, during, and after the event to ensure safety and will facilitate a return to normal operations once the event concludes,” the FAA said in a statement. “During the peak of the celebration, the TMI stops all arrivals and departures.”

Nationwide No More Kings protests

Saturday is also the day of a large-scale mobilization throughout the U.S., called No Kings Day.

Calling it a National Day of Action, the grassroots 50501 Movement is partnering with roughly 200 organizations to plan non-violent protests throughout the country – all 50 states will be covered – to demonstrate against the actions of current U.S. government leaders.

“From city blocks to small towns, from courthouse steps to community parks, we’re taking action to reject authoritarianism—and show the world what democracy really looks like,” organizers say on the “No Kings” website.

Right now, there are about 1,500 rallies scheduled.

Again, we don’t care how you feel about the current state of the United States. However, we do want our readers to know that, as of this writing, No Kings Day will affect several cities (in some cases, dozens upon dozens of them) in every state in the country.

Plan accordingly

If you’re planning on being out and about that day – perhaps as a visitor, perhaps as a local – you may want to check where demonstrations will be taking place, so you can plan your day accordingly.

To reiterate, this post is intended as a guide for our readers to plan their travels this Saturday and is not a political commentary. We don’t care which side of the political fence you lean on, who you voted for, or what you think of any government entity. Politically charged comments to this post will not be approved.
