While most of the other major hotel chains have had some sort of bonus promotion going on for most of the year, Hyatt has been noticeably quiet. So I was quite surprised when I saw an announcement from Hyatt offering double points for stays until the end of the year:.The DOUBLE POINTS FOR BEING YOU promotion offers exactly what they say – double points. Personally, I think this the least inspiring name for a promotion ever. I’d say that it was thought of quickly but it’s the same name they used for a similar promotion this spring. Leaving the name aside, it’s not the flashiest of promotions. I mean, it doesn’t award you for completing tasks like IHG promotions nor does it require multiple stays (Marriott or even the same promotion Hyatt ran earlier this year) or weekend stays (Hilton). Here’s some details from the website:
We understand being rewarded helps you be your best. Earn double points November 15–December 31, 2017 for eligible stays worldwide booked on Hyatt.com or the World of Hyatt app. With your World of Hyatt loyalty program, points add up quickly—so free nights and room upgrades are within reach.
To sign up for the promotion, you just need to enter your World of Hyatt number into this website. That’s it. There are some restrictions, of course. You have to book your room through Hyatt and not a third party, and you have to be staying on an eligible rate. You also have to have your account set to earn Hyatt points and not miles.
FINAL THOUGHTS
I do like this promotion because it appears to apply to all reservations, even if they were made before the promotion was announced. From reading the Terms and Conditions, it also looks like stays that were completed before you registered will also count, as long as you do so by November 30th.
I’m not sure how much business Hyatt is expecting to drive to their hotels by only having a two week sign up period and the promotion running for only a month and a half. It’s not a really a flash promotion but it’s shorter than most of these type of bonuses usually run for. However, this is a great way to get some extra points if you already had some Hyatt stays planned before the end of the year.
