I’m not one to hype signing up for credit cards. While they’re a great way to jump start your balances, they’re just not for everyone. But when I have access to an offer which is twice as good as the one offered to the general public, I feel obligated to share.
Right now the public sign up offers for the Gold Delta SkyMiles® Credit Card and the Gold Delta SkyMiles® Business Credit Card are set at 30,000 miles, which is not all that great.
However, American Express allows current cardholders to share referral links for these cards with bonuses that are double the normal rate.

We do get bonus SkyMiles if you apply using our links, which we appreciate and which help us keep Your Mileage May Vary HQ up and running. Here are the details of the referral offers:
- Earn 50,000 bonus miles after spending $2,000 or more in the first 3 months of card membership,
- Earn an additional 10,000 bonus miles after you make an additional $1,000 in purchases within your first 6 months
- Earn a $50 statement credit after your make a Delta purchase with you the card within the first 3 months
This offer is available for both the business and the personal versions of the card (and to answer your question, it’s possible to get the sign up bonus on each card, as they are considered different AMEX products). These offers are only good until May 16, 2018 so you’d need to act right away to take advantage of them.

As per the US Credit Card Guide, a 60,000 point bonus for these cards is towards of the upper end of any offers that have been out there. I can’t say when an increased offer might be announced but the most recent offer expired in April and we haven’t seen any other offers since. Since the annual fee is waived for the first year and you can (easily) get a $50 statement credit, American Express is paying you to have the card for the first year.
I’ve had an on-again, off-again relationship with Delta and with the SkyMiles program over the years. While SkyMiles was the program which got us to Australia, I’ve had trouble finding use for them since. However I’ve recently had luck booking domestic flights for relatively low mileage amounts, so I’m going to stick it out and see what happens.
I wouldn’t recommend signing up for a card if I didn’t feel comfortable in doing so. That’s one of the things I won’t do for Your Mileage May Vary. At the minimum, you can redeem points for 1 cent each of value so you’re getting at least $600 in value from the sign up bonus. I’m comfortable in saying that’s a pretty good value.
