Been On Planes With Annoying People? Then This Website Is For You!!

by SharonKurheg

Whether you fly once a week or once every few years, chances are you’ve experienced or at least seen “that guy” or “that gal” on the plane who doesn’t think about anyone but him/herself and his/her own needs. The ones directly behind you who stretch their legs out and rest their bare feet on your armrest. The ones who manspread. The ones who keep spitting their chewing tobacco into a Gatorade bottle (that one happened to me not long ago. Eww.). Not surprisingly, there’s a website with a bajillion pictures of people caught in various acts of being jerks on a plane.
Ladies and gentlemen, may I introduce you to Passenger Shaming.

Shawn Kathleen (no last name given, for obvious reasons) was a flight attendant who was so annoyed by the rudeness of some of her passengers that she started anonymously writing about them in a blog. People often didn’t believe her stories, so she started surreptitiously taking their picture and posting them on the blog. And eventually, right around early 2013, that’s how Passenger Shaming begin on Instagram (that’s also how she thinks she lost her job, but she seems to be doing OK since).

Passenger Shaming has been profiled on Today, Ellen Degeneres and Bravo, among others. With close to a million followers on Instagram, over 500,000 followers on Facebook, over 32,000 followers on Twitter, and almost 5,000 subscribers on YouTube, Passenger Shaming accepts photos and pictures from air travelers and flight staff from around the world – and they’re all of your fellow passengers who you love to hate! The ones who are making out in their seat. The ones who take their shirt off before they go to sleep. The ones who asked for a drink while Shawn Kathleen was trying to help a passenger who was having a heart attack. “You literally have a bottle of oxygen under your arm and you’re hustling up the aisle and somebody’s like, ‘Umm, excuse me,’ and they’ll snap their fingers, ‘Can I get a Coke?’

Heads up that some of the entries are kind of gross and some may not be safe for work, children or those with sensitive minds. But that set aside, I personally went through their Instagram feed with an ongoing mixture of, “OMG, really?!?!?!,” “LOLOL!,” and “Ewwwww!” As always, Your Mileage May Vary (but I bet it won’t!).
