If you’re a fan of the Harry Potter series, have we found a bed & breakfast for you!
The Georgian House Hotel is a family run boutique B&B in Central London, near Victoria Station. Originally built in 1851, and handed down from generation to generation (the original builder/owner’s great-great-granddaughter has been the current owner since 1987), it currently boasts 63 bedrooms and apartments and has a 5-star rating.
Most rooms, although beautifully and tastefully done in Victorian Classic or Belgravia Boutique styles, are pretty typical of what you’d expect to find in an modernly redecorated building that’s looking forward to its 170th birthday pretty soon.
But they have a few rooms that are specially decorated to enchant Harry Potter fans.
The Wizard Chamber
The Wizard Chamber is a family-sized room. From Georgian House Hotel’s website:
Ever wondered what it’s like to sleep as a wizard? The Wizard Chamber at the Georgian House Hotel will transport you to a world full of magic and marvel.
Concealed behind a bookcase door, curious guests can enjoy venturing to the Wizard Chamber on the lower ground floor of our 19th century hotel. Pass through a portrait-lined passageway that is bathed in candle light that casts dancing shadows across the walls.
Created to conjure a mysterious and gothic feel, each room features faux castle details such as stained glass windows, stone walls, archways, trunks, cauldrons, four-poster beds hung with velvet curtains and an abundance of other curious artefacts. Wood burning stoves, cauldrons in fireplaces and tapestries complete the look.
The Enchanted Chambers
The Enchanted Chambers are double rooms. From Georgian House Hotel:
Our Enchanted Chambers are smaller and cosier than our Wizard Chamber, but no less magical. Designed for couples who want to be captivated by the magic, they can be found concealed behind a bookcase door on the lower ground level of the hotel, along a portrait-lined passageway bathed in candle light. Created to conjure a romantic, gothic feel, each room features faux castle details such as stained glass windows, stone walls, archways, trunks, cauldrons, four-poster beds hung with velvet curtains and an abundance of other curious artefacts. Even the little ensuite shower room has some unusual features. Open fireplaces, copper cauldrons and tapestries complete the look.
For both styles of rooms (or any other room), they also offer:
- tea and coffee making facilities (including Border’s Biscuits)
- complimentary WiFi
- complimentary DVD rental
- Free smart phone for your visit (I love this idea!)
- their award-winning full English breakfast (including children’s options) or a delicious continental breakfast
Rooms start from the mid £200s per night for the Enchanted Chambers and the low £300s per night for the Wizard Chamber.
Georgian House Hotel’s website can be found here, for more information and for booking. It looks magical!
