Going To Orlando? Orlando Magical Dining Month Starts Soon! Here’s Everything About It

by SharonKurheg

I wrote a while back about the various “restaurant weeks” and “dining months” that are all around the country – set times during the year when the restaurants in a specific city will have specials, usually a 3- or 4-course prix fixe menu, that are usually less expensive than if you bought the same or similar stuff a’la carte. The one that’s closest to Joe’s and my hearts (and stomachs) is Visit Orlando’s Magical Dining Month and heads up if you’re going to be in The City Beautiful in the near future – it starts this Friday.

Visit Orlando’s Magical Dining Month sponsored by American Express (Well, that’s a mouthful. Get it? Mouthful?) will run from this Friday, August 24th through Sunday, September 30th. Nearly 120 participating restaurants will offer three course, prix fixe dinners for just $35.

Restaurants cover all areas of the greater Central Florida region, including the areas of the Orange County Convention Center, Disney/Lake Buena Vista, Downtown Orlando, Restaurant Row, Universal/CitiWalk and Winter Park, as well as surrounding areas. Most restaurants are smaller, family-run non-chain establishments, but more popular names such as Benihana, Fogo de Chao Brazilian Steakhouse, The Capital Grille, Eddie V’s Prime Seafood, Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar, Roy’s Restaurant, Ruth’s Chris Steak House, Seasons 52, The Melting Pot and Brio are also included on the list.

For those interested in restaurants specifically in the Disney/Lake Buena Vista area, not surprisingly, no Disney-run restaurants are participants (we’ve been enjoying Orlando Dining Month for YEARS and they never have never participated). However some familiar third-party restaurants at Disney, such as Bongo’s Cuban Cafe, II Mulino New York Trattoria, Morimoto Asia, Paddlefish, STK, Todd English’s bluezoo and Wine Bar George are included, as are several restaurants in hotels on or just outside Disney property. You can make reservations for many of the Disney area restaurants, as well as the ones not near WDW, on Open Table.

Some, but not all restaurants offer gluten free, vegetarian and/or vegan options as part of their Orlando Magical Dining Month menu.

As an added feature, one dollar from each meal will benefit Best Buddies and Down Syndrome Association of Central Florida.
