Happy Sunday to all of our travel friends, both near and far! It was a busy week in the miles and points world. With the April 1st posts and United devaluation, I’m surprised that bloggers were able to write about anything else but there was plenty of other news. Here’s some of my favorite posts of the week, along with some posts I’ve been saving for a rainy week.
- Ric from Loyalty Traveler is my go-to when I want to learn about the lesser covered hotel programs like Choice Rewards or Wyndham Rewards. So when Wyndham changed their program on April 3rd, I was glad to see his comments about if there’s any value left in collecting their points.
- Gary from View from the Wing writes about Las Vegas hotels and how they are needing to reconsider their hotel fees. If these fees are going to remain, and it looks like they will, they should have to be shown up front instead of hidden until you’ve almost finished booking a room. We had to pay a fee during our Vegas stay and I wasn’t happy about it. Check out our post on these fees and what you can do to avoid them.
- Erin from Million Mile Secrets shared a post about the most unexpected things she’s seen at airports. We’ve seen some of these while traveling but never while walking through the terminal.
- For the last 35 years, Virgin Atlantic has featured the “Flying Lady” on the sides of their aircraft. Starting with the rollout of their new A350-1000 fleet, Virgin Atlantic will be featuring five “Flying Icons”. Lucky (Ben) from One Mile at a Time gives a little more information about the new Virgin icons.
- Jon from No Mas Coach gives his opinion on exactly how premium Norwegian’s Premium Class is with his review of a flight from Seattle to London. We’ve been considering flying on Norwegian and I’m glad I read this review before we booked.
- The “Disney After Hours” experience has been a slam dunk for WDW in recent months, so if course they’re adding to it, this time with Disney Villains themed After Hours events throughout the summer. Theme Park Tourist reports that, of course, the price for this event is going up. After all, it’s popular, right? So instead of paying $40+ per hour, expect to pay $46+ per hour for it.
- Back in January, Scott from Travel Codex wrote about his holiday season trip to New York and his stay at the Algonquin Hotel. Sharon and I have a particular interest in old New York hotels so we were interested in what he thought about staying there today.

Or maybe you’d like to join our Facebook group, where we talk and ask questions about travel (including Disney parks), creative ways to earn frequent flyer miles and hotel points, how to save money on or for your trips, get access to travel articles you may not see otherwise, etc. Whether you’ve read our posts before or this is the first time you’re stopping by, we’re really glad you’re here and hope you come back to visit again!
