Trump Hotel Named World’s Best Luxury Hotel? Well, Maybe.

by SharonKurheg

An online magazine that touts itself as, “the ultimate showcase for five-star travel, fine dining, exclusive property, luxury cars, private jets, high end fashion, premium beauty and the very best in male grooming,” is reporting that a hotel owned by Donald Trump has been voted by its readers from across the globe as the best hotel in the world. This was confirmed by a tweet from the Trump Organization.

From U.K.-based Luxury Lifestyle Magazine:

He may not be everyone’s cup of tea when it comes to politics but one thing Donald Trump and co [sic] know is a good hotel. The best in fact. Trump International Hotel and Tower New York has claimed the top spot after being voted the best hotel in the world by readers of premium publication Luxury Lifestyle Magazine.

…He clearly divides opinion on a political level but there is no question about it, Trump is a master hotelier. He understands what super luxury is all about and delivers the very best experience possible, usually exceeding expectations. The TV reality star employs only the very best hotel staff and this ensures he can offer guests the most enjoyable of stays.

Voters from across the globe showed their appreciation of the U.S president’s lavish five-star hotel in the big apple by voting in their thousands to put his luxury establishment on top of the world.

According to the publication, 74,915 of the magazine’s readers voted that the top 10 best hotels in the world are:

  1. Trump International Hotel and Tower, New York
  2. Vatuvara Private Island, Fiji
  3. Emirates Palace, Abu Dhabi
  4. Burj Al Arab Hotel, Dubai
  5. Sheraton Maldives Fill Moon Resort & Spa
  6. Atlantis Paradise Island, Bahamas
  7. The Langham, Sydney, Australia
  8. The Dorchester, London
  9. Trump International Hotel Washington D.C.
  10. The Grand Hotel Les Trois Rois, Basel, Switzerland

Granted, it’s usually not a brand that you see winning awards from swanky travel magazines. I mean, Travel & Leisure doesn’t mention the brand in their Top 25 and it’s not included in the most recent Conde Naste Traveler’s Readers’ Choice Awards of  “Best Hotels in The World,” either. Yet Luxury Lifestyle Magazine’s readers apparently found 2 of the brand’s properties worthy enough to be in their top ten – and one of them to be their #1 pick.

Interesting.

However we did notice a few things…

  • In the publication’s 2018 awards (for which they said that nearly 65,000 of their readers participated), neither of Trump’s hotels made it into the Top Ten for overseas hotels or for hotels in North America. Lowes Miami Beach Hotel got the #1 spot for North American hotels that year, instead. That hotel costs $219/night and gets 4 out of 5 stars on Trip Advisor and Yelp.
  • Luxury Lifestyle Magazine only has slightly over 5,000 followers on Instagram and not quite 2,500 followers on Twitter. How/where did they get almost 75,000 people who voted? (BTW, don’t confuse Luxury Lifestyle Magazine with another publication called The Luxury Lifestyle Magazine – established in 2013, they have 1.1 million followers on each of Instagram and Twitter)
  • As of November, 2018, Luxury Lifestyle Media Group Limited, which operates and runs Luxury Lifestyle Magazine, has total assets of 8,400GBP and total liabilities of 5,700GBP, for a net worth of a little less than 3,000GBP (that’s $3,760, using today’s conversions). I guess their staff works cheap?
  • The published address for a swanky, high-end publication like Luxury Lifestyle Magazine is not, as I would have expected, in London or any other large, metropolitan place. It’s in Kingsbridge, in far southwest England. Here’s a picture of their office. They need to paint their garage door. Just sayin’.

Now, I suppose it’s possible that this Luxury Lifestyle Magazine is 100% legit and they really did get 74,915 of their readers (the vast majority of which apparently don’t care about what they do or say on Twitter or Instagram?) to vote for “best ofs.” But….I dunno.

What do you think?

Sad. Nobody with a lick of sense would ever stay at a Drumpf property.

Sheraton Maldives Full Moon is number 5?!? I’m sorry, but it’s not in the top 50 in The Maldives. It’s in a terrible location, across shipping lanes from an industrial part part of Male, with huge container ships and other stinky boats noisily making their way past, at all times of the day and night. It’s uncomfortably commercial, outdated and, at best, a four-star property amidst the dozens of sublime miracles throughout the Maldivian atolls. The food is surprisingly good, and the staff is warm and kind, but other than that, it doesn’t come close to being also-ran.

Articles like this either make the obviously undeserving hotel look desperate or the publication crooked. then again, maybe both. Either way, it insults the reader.

Lol!!! I started to investigate this magazine and travel agency partner as well. I seemed really fake and weird.

Hmmm…none of the other “swanky”Travel magazines had his hotels listed at all…no skepticism about this, of course.🙄

Just shows you what a load of BS, stupid, ridiculous rubbish Trump and everything associated with him is.

Sheraton Maldives… wow… I’m a Maldives addict. I’ve been 15 times, and only once to that Sheraton. I wouldn’t go there again if you paid me. Awful property in every way. Yet it’s number 5 in this list… hahaha.

Now… re: Trump… please tell me Americans- you will vote him out. And then put him in jail, before he destroys your worldwide credibility and respect forever.
