It was announced during a video press conference earlier today that Orange County, FL, which includes the City of Orlando and most of the Central Florida theme park areas, including Walt Disney World in Lake Buena Vista, will be under a “stay at home” mandate, starting Thursday, March 26th.
Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings, Sheriff John Mina and Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer had an Orange County Government Update on coronavirus, where they jointly announced the mandate will go into effect this Thursday, March 26th, at 11pm.
“Orange County now has at least 50 cases within our county,” said Mayor Demings. “On March 15, just one week ago, we had just one case. It is an understatement that it is spreading throughout our community.”
Everyone in the county will be asked to stay at home, and only venture out for “essential business.” That includes trips to work, the supermarket and the pharmacy. Outside exercise will be allowed, but people would be discouraged from doing so in groups. Residents will also be able to order takeout, visit the doctor or get supplies for work.
This announcement comes on the heels of Governor Ron DeSantis refusing to do a statewide order to stay in place, despite the state of Florida already having nearly 1,500 total cases of COVID-19.

Damn it – I had a trip planned to Orlando after Passover.
Part of the trip was for a now cancelled convention – the other was to “kick the tires” on a building.
Hopefully the “Stay At Home” order and curfew will be over by the time mid-April rolls around. The problem will be the very skinny domestic flight schedule – it might be easier to take Amtrak – if they are still running! On the other hand – will the Amtrak sleepers be uber-clean?
How is the curfew working out? Sometimes at the hotel I like to stay at – during the late night – I’ll drive over the few blocks to WaWa and grab a snack or something – don’t want to be caught-up in a “curfew sting” and have my face all over Orlando television….Headline — Suspect from L.A. with face mask caught on Orlando streets with pint of Haagen-Dazs in front seat of car…lol

The curfew is from 11p to 5a. We’re very rarely out during that time frame, unless we were going somewhere like a show or dinner…all of which are not issues anymore LOL
Cheaper to fly with airfares very cheap now
Have you seen the schedules for April (as loaded as of today)? Even if the airlines have planned on a schedule for April – with or without any stimulus – April will be on the record books for the least amount of flights within the United States since the onset of deregulation.
My hunch is that thousands of more flights will be cancelled between now and once the first week of April rolls around.
It will get better – just not April and probably May as well. Throw out your Passover and Easter travel plans via air – and then to determine if your hotel will be closed as well. I’m hearing that Orlando is becoming a blood bath with many hotels closing down as I write this. I really want see for myself how many hotels in the Disney World area will be closed in April. I’m sure Irlo Bronson/Hwy 192 over in Kissimmee and the hotels along International Drive are quickly becoming ghost towns!
If you’re planning on food in first (or any cabin) – bring a picnic basket with you! Probably healthier anyway bringing food from home than what you’re provided on the aircraft. I flew on Monday,, and many of the concession stands at LAX were closed – so that really limits your choices if you’re planning to buy food at the airport in lieu of no food on the plane.
I had a quick one day trip – LAX-SMF and back – so not having food wasn’t an issue.
It was sad though – because the LAX-SMF flights were on American Eagle – and the operator – Compass Airlines/Trans States Holdings is completely shutting down at LAX as of April 7 – just going out of business! Right now, they are running a very skinny schedule schedule as it is. Very sad to see all of those jobs just going away!
