Have you ever looked at someone and thought, “Why are you doing that?”
Living in Orlando, we’ve been fortunate to have an embarrassingly large number of places to see a fantastic fireworks display on July 4th. We’ve spent the last few years at Disney World, either going to Epcot or watching the Magic Kingdom fireworks from the beach at the Polynesian Resort.
People staked out spots on the beach for hours in advance to have the perfect location. When the music started and the show began, you know what some of them did? Pulled out their phones and stared at the screen for the entire show instead of looking up into the sky and enjoying the moment. Some were recording it while I’m sure others were trying to live stream it to their fans.
A friend of mine on Facebook shared this meme and at the time, I totally agreed with the sentiment.
Most of the fireworks displays this year are canceled. The few places around Orlando still doing fireworks are asking people to watch from their cars. The City of Orlando is going to replay a previous year’s display at Lake Eola on TV.
Now I’m wishing I had recorded one of those firework displays so we’d have something to watch from home on the Fourth of July. I guess I could always look on YouTube for a video from someone who, at the time, I thought was silly for not just watching the show. Maybe they knew all this #coronacrapola was coming and those fireworks videos would have some value, but I doubt it.
