Nearly 150 Visitors To One Nudist Resort Have COVID

Along with their clothes, they apparently didn’t wear masks.

Almost 100 nudists at the Cap d’Agde resort in France have recently tested positive for the 2019 Novel Coronavirus. On top of that, 50 more people who had visited the resort, located 30 miles south of Montpellier, in the Hérault region, have reported falling ill from the virus after returning home.

French health officials are calling the outbreak “very worrying,” since they had previously warned visitors to the resort about the importance of social distancing, as well as wearing masks when indoors.

The rate of infection for the resort, which is particularly popular with swingers, is currently at an approximate 30% positive testing rate. That’s roughly 4 times higher than that of the nearby village.

France is in the midst of an uptick in their cases of COVID-19, with a recently reported close to 5,000 new cases in 24 hours. They’ve had a total of over 280,000 confirmed cases and are approaching 31,000 deaths from the virus.

Cap d’Agde is sometimes called “Naked City.” It’s the world’s largest clothing-optional resort in the world and can have upwards of 35,000 to 40,000 guests per day during their busiest times of the year.

Nudists in the Czech Republic had concerned others, back in late March, when they were found to not be wearing masks while sunbathing.

“Unfortunately, many of the sunbathing citizens were gathered in large groups, and some were not wearing face masks.,” as per a police statement. “Upon the arrival of the police, everyone agreed to respect the government regulation [that face shields are compulsory outside the home].
“Citizens are allowed to be without clothes in designated locations, but they still must cover their mouths, and only gather in appropriate numbers.”
The visitors to Cap d’Agde have apparently not been very compliant with wearing masks, even if they don’t have to wear clothes.
“We are in an alarming situation, therefore we ask that all the people of the village be tested before leaving the place and going elsewhere,” said a spokesman for the Hérault region. “And we also ask all the people who wish to come to this naturist village to postpone their arrival.”
Another 300 or so visitors to the resort were recently tested, which may make the number even higher.

It doesn’t matter. If they have the virus, they’re contagious, whether they show symptoms or not.

Not true – plenty of evidence that the asymtomatic do give the virus to others. Your thinking seems to be from last April

That’s what I just said. If they have the virus, they’re contagious, whether they show symptoms or not.
