Check Your Marriott Bonvoy AMEX Cards For Holiday Spending Offers

by joeheg

Many banks have been adding limited time bonus categories to their credit cards. These offers can be valuable if you spend a large amount of money at these locations, but they aren’t as useful for others. That’s why I was happy to see an AMEX offer for bonus points on our Marriott Bonvoy co-brand cards.

For our AMEX Bonvoy Brilliant card, the offer we received is for 20,000 bonus points for spending $2,000+ before now and 12/24/2020.

I received a similar offer on my Marriott Bonvoy American Express (The former SPG AMEX) for 15,000 bonus points for spending $1,500+ before 12/24/2020.

If you hit the spending requirements, you’ll earn 12x Marriott Bonvoy points per dollar which is the 2 points you’ll normally earn plus 10 bonus points. I value Marriott Bonvoy points at 0.667 cents each, which makes these bonuses worth $100 and $133. You always need to consider where you’re putting your spending when looking at these types of offers. Is it worth moving your charges to a card to take advantage of an offer compared to what you’re currently making by using a different card? Those calculations are different for everyone. I’m considering taking advantage of this bonus because we’re Marriott Platinum through 2022. That makes Marriott Bonvoy points more valuable for us than they may be for someone without status.
