Breeze Airways, the new low-fare airline from JetBlue founder David Neeleman, announced this week that they’re planning on expanding service in the next few months.
In total, they’ll be adding 10 new cities and 35 new routes. This will bring them up to 77 domestic routes between 28 cities in 18 states, from coast to coast. That’s pretty good for an airline that’s been around less than a year (Breeze, a.k.a.’ The World’s Nicest Airline,’ launched in May, 2021).
The airline’s main goal is focusing on mid-sized cities that have significant populations but generally are underserved by the major airlines.
“We generally always — 95 percent of the time — try and find routes where there’s people flying or that people would fly if the fares were better and the service was more convenient,” Neeleman told USA Today.
The new cities Breeze will cover include:
- Las Vegas, NV*
- Jacksonville, FL
- Fort Meyers, FL
- Sarasota, FL
- Los Angeles, CA
- San Francisco, CA
- San Bernadino, CA
- Nashville, TN
- Savannah, GA
- Syracuse, NY
*7 of those aforementioned underserved areas (Richmond VA, Syracuse NY, Fort Myers FL, Charleston SC, Jacksonville FL, Norfolk VA and Huntsville AL) will have nonstop service to/from Las Vegas.
Here’s a map of all their destinations and routes, once the new ones are added:
Breeze’s original plan was to introduce even more new routes than this, but increased fuel costs are holding them back for now.
Of course, more routes and more flights means more planes. So with that, Breeze has ordered 80 new Airbus A220-300 aircraft, with options for 40 more. These will be delivered one per month for six years. The airline will more than double its fleet this year, from 13 Embraer 190 and 195 aircraft to 30 aircraft, including 13 Airbus A220s and four additional Embraer E-jets.
“The A220-300 is a game-changer for us as we now add long haul flights and transcontinental service,” Neeleman said in a statement. “The Airbus aircraft embodies the Breeze ideal of merging kindness with technology, pairing unrivaled passenger comfort with eco-friendly efficiency.”
The planes will each hold 126 passengers, including 36 first-class seats. However, that number may be adjusted if the demand for first-class seats is less than anticipated. In that case, those seats will be switched out for more coach seats.
The new flights will begin Memorial Day weekend and will continue to debut through August.

This is really going to help some people. For example, Louisville-San Francisco traffic will have happy people who no longer have to connect. They will experience joy that some may have never experienced. Same with San Francisco-Richmond, VA.
I used to live in a city where I had to use connecting flights nearly always. That is no longer the case. So much so that I now occasionally like connections so that I can explore the connecting city airport. Non-stop flights can cut fatigue to near zero…get on the plane, read my stuff for 3 hours, and before I know it, the plane is descending.
