We’re getting closer and closer to the opening of the multi-billion dollar Terminal C at Orlando International Airport (MCO). The opening dates were announced a while ago, with international operations beginning on September 19, 2022 and domestic operations starting on September 26th.
While that gave us a hint that the new terminal will have both domestic and international traffic, news has leaked that JetBlue will be the main domestic airline in Terminal C.
Now it’s official. Orlando International Airport announced which airlines will be moving to Terminal C via Twitter.
Many international carriers will move to the terminal which has modernized immigration capabilities. This also means these airlines can use the new Plaza Premium lounge opening in the terminal for their travelers with status and those flying in business class.
As expected, the biggest domestic airline in the new terminal is JetBlue but they’re going to have to share the glory with upstart Breeze Airways.
Many international airlines are staying put, including Virgin Atlantic, Air Canada, Copa, LATAM and Lufthansa. Maybe it’s because they have traffic that connects to other domestic carriers or they didn’t want to move operations to a new terminal when it opens.
Whatever the result, this will lead to more space in the old terminals, leaving empty a whole section previously used by JetBlue. It’s unknown who will move into the gates opened up by airlines moving to Terminal C.
No matter who’s moving, this is a once-in-a-generation expansion and I’m excited to take my first flight from the new terminal. Maybe we’ll hop on a Norse flight to Oslo.
