In June 2022, Nobu Hotels announced plans to build a hotel in Orlando. It was one of several luxury hotels announced within the space of a few months. At the time of the announcement, Nobu Hotels had little to share with the press about the new luxury property.
The hotel website says, “The resort will feature 300 accommodations including eight stunning villas, a Nobu restaurant, 50 stylish residences, and meeting and event space.”
No location has been announced; the only hint has been the vague statement of, “[the hotel] is set in the heart of Orlando and just moments from world-renowned theme parks and family entertainment attractions.”
The website hasn’t been updated since and still says the hotel is due to open, “sometime in 2024.”
One part of the story that I found the most interesting was how the developers still hadn’t announced the location of the resort. If they’re looking to sell 50 residences, wouldn’t people want to know where they’re buying a house?
According to Growthspotter, the Nobu Orlando resort will be located on 50 acres located between the Sheraton Vistana timeshare complex and the Marriott Orlando World Center. That’s the empty land on this map.
The land, which is located along I-4 was previously planned as the location of a Great Wolf Lodge. When the company decided in 2018 to not build one of its waterpark hotels in Orlando, the parent company of Nobu Hotels purchased the property.
The entrance to the Nobu Hotel will be on Meadow Creek Drive, which is accessible from SR-535 between Walgreens and a Chevron station. Not exactly the entrance to luxury.
It took several years to announce the project so you’d think there’d be plenty of information to provide about the newest entry into the Orlando luxury market. It’s been over a year. While Nobu Orlando is slated for a 2025 opening, development plans hadn’t been filed with Orange County as of September 2022.
At that time, spokesperson for the hotel Isabelle Quinn said:
“The company has yet to disclose the information, we are not yet aware of the exact timeline,” Renderings of how this hotel will look are also not available at this time, Quinn said.
While I’m looking towards having a Nobu Hotel and restaurant within 20 minutes of my house, I’m not holding my breath to see when it opens.
