2 Resorts on Las Vegas Strip to Eliminate Free Self-Parking

by SharonKurheg

When you went to Las Vegas, one of the known perks was free self-parking at the vast majority of the resorts.

That perk may be on its way out.

Later this summer, both the Venetian and the Palazzo hotels are going to end their free self-service parking. The two resorts are sister hotels, both owned by The Venetian Resort Las Vegas.

Grazie Rewards Premier members (those with at least 1,000 Grazie Rewards) and above will receive complimentary self-parking. Grazie Rewards Elite members (those with 10,000 or more Grazie Rewards) and above will continue to receive complimentary valet parking.

“After evaluating operations and business demand, The Venetian Resort Las Vegas, which includes The Venetian, The Palazzo, and The Venetian Convention and Expo Center, will begin charging for self-parking later this summer. Grazie Rewards Premier members and above will receive complimentary self-parking. Grazie Rewards Elite members and above will continue to receive complimentary valet parking,” the Venetian Resorts confirmed to FOX5.

Charging for self-parking is, of course, a way to increase revenue streams. That being said, according to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority:

  • Visitor volume was 40.4 million in March 2023 (a 13.6% increase compared with March 2022).
  • Harry Reid International Airport saw a record month in March 2023, with 4.9 million passengers.
  • In March 2023 hotel occupancy rates on the Strip reached 90.5%
  • gaming revenue in Clark County in March 2023 totaled $13.1 billion – the 11th straight month of gaming revenue exceeding $1 billion.

So it’s not as if The Venetian Resort Las Vegas is crying for money…they just want more of it.

You can still find free self-parking at the following Las Vegas Strip area hotels and shopping complexes:

  • Circus Circus
  • Fashion Show Mall (valet is also free)
  • OYO Hotel & Casino
  • Planet Hollywood (Free self-park for residents, rewards members [diamond, platinum, and seven-star], and locals)
  • Resort World
  • The Shoppes at Mandalay Bay
  • The Shops at Crystals (valet is free)
  • The Strat Hotel & Casino (valet is also free)
  • Treasure Island Hotel & Casino (valet is also free)
  • Tropicana (valet is also free)
  • Wynn Las Vegas

I’m surprised and rather impressed that the strip hotels are doing so well. There’s a whole lot of gambling options in the USA and Vegas isn’t the value it used to be.
