This Museum Has Burgers, Comfort Foods and Nostalgia, All Rolled Into One Place!

by SharonKurheg

If you’re a fan of fast food, hamburgers, and/or comfort food, boy, do we have a museum for you! And just so you know, we’re talking about the only museum in the United States dedicated to burgers and comfort food!

Burger03Located in Miami, Florida the Burger Museum by Burger Beast is a one stop shop to see memorabilia from just about every chain (or not!) restaurant or fast food joint past or present (we’re talking hundreds of burger restaurants like White Castle or Burger Chef, comfort food restaurants such as Beefsteak Charlie’s and Howard Johnson’s, plus locations that were limited to South Florida including Hamburger Heaven and Tropicaire Drive-In). As per owner Sef Gonzalez’ website for the attraction, the museum’s 3000-piece collection, “features everything from one of the 1970s newspaper print tables from Wendy’s and a full set of blueprints for a 1964 Burger Castle restaurant to a 1940s 15 foot long “HAMBURGERS” sign from Ohio.” Other highlights include a 1960s Burger King Menu Board, a set of blueprints from 1964 for a Burger Castle restaurant, a 1940s Mexihot Hamburg Sign, uniforms, original signs and photographs, and styrofoam containers from Burger King’s original Whopper.

A popular burger blogger since 2008, Gonzalez’ collection, which started with a Burger Chef sign from the 1960s, eventually outgrew its space in a private home and even the larger space in a corporate office he had access to. That’s when he branched out into the museum it is today, in late 2016.

The Burger Museum is located on site at Magic City Casino. So, how does a burger museum wind up in a casino? Well, it turned out Gonzalez was helping the casino plan some food-themed events and the casino people were so impressed with his collection that the idea eventually came together to house the museum on site. Today the museum helps coordinate monthly food truck events for the casino.

Sounds pretty cool, huh? Think you might like to visit? Here’s everything you need to know:
