The World’s Best Travel Jacket!?!?

by SharonKurheg

My cousin forwarded me the info for this jacket, which is being advertised as “the worlds best travel jacket.” Whenever I see something that’s touted as “the world’s best,” I take it with a grain of salt. Sorry, can’t help it; I may live in Florida now, but I’m still a cynical native New Yorker at heart. That being said, I still decided to check it out…

The World’s Best Travel Jacket (I think that’s the actual name of it) started as a Kickstarter & Indigogo project:

After years of frequent traveling for both work and leisure, our founders have experienced their fair share of travel inconveniences.

They tried everything from packing efficiently to experimenting with 9 travel pillows in less than 3 months’ time— all of which still left them frustrated.

So, they sat down together and brain-stormed their way to a travel jacket which had 15 features that solved the problems many travelers experience today.

In the Summer of 2015, they launched a Kickstarter to fund this idea. Thousands of people all over the world backed the project— leading it to be the most funded clothing project in the history of crowdfunding.

Now, our company is continuing to improve our clothing line in addition to working on new products to solve more of the problems facing frequent travelers.

As it turned out, BauxBax, the manufacturor, wound up with 55,000 backers, raised $11.5 million and the project became the 6th most successful Kickstarter ever. Pretty cool huh?

So what did this jacket have and do? This. All of this…

For someone who travels a lot, it certainly sounds like something that would be super convenient. I mean, it has multiple functions, includes pockets for just about everything, and all that built-in stuff? If it’s all as they say, cool!

In fact, since that original jacket was released, they’ve now made a second version that has even MORE functions (25 of them!):

Jacket2
This new version is at the tail end of its own Indiegogo fundraiser.

Sold by BauBax, the new jacket will be offered in 4 styles for men and for women: vest, windbreaker, sweatshirt, bomber jacket, with prices that vary from $175 to $250 (although they have sales here and there that bring prices down significantly).

If they made one that would fit my pint-sized body, I would have considered looking into it. But since they don’t, and since getting one altered to fit me would ruin at least half of the features, AND since Joe doesn’t need a new jacket right now, I’ll just post some of the reviews I’ve found online:

So apparently some people love it and some people don’t. Granted, I guess that would be the same with any jacket out there. But if you like to travel (or even if not and you just carry a lot of stuff with you), perhaps it would be something that would work for you. Or perhaps not. Your mileage may vary ;-).

A huge thank-you to Shannon D. for the heads up on this topic!
