Stay Off WDW Property & Still Have Disney Theming? Yes, You Can!

by SharonKurheg

When you visit Walt Disney World, you may decide to stay on site at one of the WDW resort hotels, which gives you perks that include, among other things, being immersed in “the Disney experience” for the entire time you stay on property. In fact, even your hotel room will have a select Disney theme. Of course, a vacation/holiday comes with a relatively hefty price for that on-site hotel stay, where the cheapest “value resort” price is about $127 for a 260 square foot room.

You may instead decide to stay at an off-site hotel, which will potentially save you quite a sum of money, but, of course, doesn’t give you that “immersive Disney experience.”

But what if you could find a place to stay that offered Disney theme inside but since it was off WDW property (but only 2 miles away!), was still an overall reasonable cost? There is such a place!

Mickey Mouse Homes at Windsor Hills Resort are several privately owned luxury vacation rental properties in the Windsor Hills Resort, which is located in the western end of Kissimmee. It’s off Old Lake Wilson Rd. (which is off Rt. 192), roughly 2 miles from WDW property, 14 miles from Universal Studios & Islands of Adventure, 11 miles from Sea World and 30 miles from Legoland.

Each property showcases tasteful, modern furnishings interspersed with bright colors and touches of Disney decor here and there. However the smaller bedrooms and bathrooms are in all their Disney splendor, with the themes of Mickey Mouse, princesses, or Winnie the Pooh, depending on the property.

The properties include:

*Mickey Mouse Condo (2 bed, 2 bath 1100 square foot condo that sleeps 6):

*Mickey Mouse Pad (2 bed, 2 bath 1100 square foot condo that sleeps 6):

*Mickey Mouse Villa (5 bed, 5 bath 3000 square foot home with pool that sleeps 12):

Plus a few more that you can see on their website.

The prices for these properties are MUCH more reasonable that what it would cost to stay at a WDW resort (the Condo and Pad each vary from $115 to $160 per night, and the Villa’s price varies from $250 to $349 per night, based on season – and remember that’s for spaces that are about 4 to 12 times larger than a WDW value resort).

The properties are in Windsor Hills Resort, which has multiple amenities, including nearby shopping, restaurants and grocery stores, a 140,000 gallon lagoon style heated pool with an 80-foot waterslide, Jacuzzi/hot tub, children’s splash pad, fitness center, game room, lighted basketball courts, mini golf, BBQ and picnic area, ping pong, sand volleyball, and three children’s playground, among other things. Parking is free and there is a shuttle available (although renting/hiring a car would admittedly probably be more convenient).

So if you’re planning a trip to WDW and are considering staying off-site, perhaps Mickey Mouse Homes at Windsor Hills Resort would be a good place for you. Click here to go to their website and check it out.

Hello Amanda! The villa is not ours – we only heard about it and thought it sounded nice. I believe the owner’s contact information information is on their website, though. Good luck!
