noun: Introvert comes from Latin intro-, “inward,” and vertere, “turning.” An introvert generally prefers solitary activities to interacting with large groups of people. If you would rather work through your feelings in your diary than have a conversation, then you are an introvert.
I will be the first to admit that I’m an introvert. As early as my mid-teen years, I was labeled a “snob” by the mother of a friend of mine, because I barely talked to her when I was at their house. But nope, I wasn’t a snob…I was just uncomfortable in making small talk with someone I barely knew.
My introverted personality has continued to this very day, so when I heard about the possibility of flying without really having to interact with – or even see – another person (sorry Joe, I love you, but…), I was 100% sold! Well, that is until
I read it was only available on the new suites on Emirates’ new Boeing 777-300ER and Airbus A380 aircraft, on their flights from Dubai to Brussels and Geneva. But even so, a girl can dream, right? I mean, just LOOK at this…
The spaces are 40-square-foot suites that are the first in the industry to be fully closed with sliding doors that extend to the cabin ceiling.
Emirates’ CEO Tim Clark (pictured above) described the 3.7m² (40ft²) suite as “a real game-changer in terms of privacy, comfort, and thoughtful luxury.” For example, instead of typical airline window shades, the suites offer stylish curtains.
If you want something to drink, you have an in-suite minibar so you can serve yourself, if you’d like. And if you want something to eat? You can video chat with the cabin crew to place your order, then receive it via a hatch in the wall so you don’t have to have person-to-person contact. Because introverting.
Here are some other cool features – the temperature in each suite can be dialed to whatever setting you wish, and the lighting is equally customizable. You also have a 32-inch HD screen for in-flight entertainment (I think that’s bigger than the TV in Joe’s and my bedroom…), Emirates pajamas, sleep oil, pillow mist, and a completely flat recline (the seats are leather, of course) that can be put into a “zero gravity” position.
Oh, and since the 2 suites in the center of the cabin won’t have window access, they’re equipped with real-time “virtual windows” courtesy of the cameras taking video from the left- or right-hand side of the jet (you can pick what view you want at any given moment).

Based on some searching, it looks as if the cost of the flight varies somewhere in the vicinity of $5,000 to $10,000 for a one-way ticket. Oh, and they don’t use points as payment. So no chance to introvert (“introvert” can be a verb, right?) on the plane at this time. But again, a girl can dream, right?
