Spirit Airlines, which is the United States’ most well-know ultra low-cost carrier, will make some huge international expansions this fall, when they begin flying to and from South America and Central America, and expanding their service to the Caribbean and the Carolinas.

All of the new routes will be out of Orlando International Airport (MCO).

Starting October 4, Spirit will begin serving Guatemala City, Panama City, and Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, all initially four times a week.

They’ll also have flights two other days of the week to San Pedro Sula, Honduras, San Jose, Costa Rica and San Salvador.

Then in November, Spirit will begins flights to Bogota, Medellin and Cartagena.

On top of all that, they’re also going to expand their service in the Caribbean and will fly to Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands out of Orlando.

“Orlando is now one of our largest markets, and we have no plans on stopping our growth. The region is not only a wonderful, family-friendly destination, but it is well-positioned to now serve as a gateway to the Caribbean and Latin America,” said Spirit CEO, Bob Fornaro. “We have been proud to serve Orlando for 25 years, and after more than doubling service last year, we are so proud to be expanding there yet again.”

“We’re very excited about the places we’re going to serve from Orlando, internationally,” Spirit Airlines President Ted Christie also chimed in. “They’re all places that we serve today from Fort Lauderdale. We think those markets are very unique to our product and that we serve those customers very well.”

Within the U.S., Spirit also unveiled three Carolina routes to Greensboro, Asheville and Myrtle Beach.

Once all of the new flights are in place, Spirit will be able to offer travelers 38 different destinations with 49 daily departures from Orlando International Airport airport alone.

All that being said, still and always, make sure you know what you’re getting into when flying on Spirit. Just sayin’…
