Happy Sunday, travel friends! Here are some articles we’ve read this week from other bloggers (and other sources) that we think you may like, as well, so we’re passing them along.
- Greg writes an article on Frequent Miler about keeping a “travel wallet”. Since I was just burned by not having the correct cards with me and having to pay for a lounge that should have been free for me, I think this is a brilliant idea that I’m going to start using. I’ll just need to add it to my packing list so I don’t forget to bring the wallet with me.
- On Deals We Like, Mr. Deals talks about his dislike for quirky hotels. Reading the article, I think that what he really dislikes is poorly designed hotel rooms. While we found the Moxy in Tempe, AZ to be quirky, it was one of the better designed hotels we’ve ever stayed in.
- Million Mile Secrets lets us know that Volcanoes National Park has reopened and there are tours available to take you to the newly formed sites from the recent eruption. Sadly the old visitor center at Kiluea Caldera is closed, most likely for good. If you’re visiting, (and there’s no reason not to visit an area after a natural disaster. In fact, it’s highly recommended), I’d highly recommend staying in Volcano Village.
- Rafiki’s Planet Watch and Wildlife Express at Disney’s Animal Kingdom was announced to be closing soon but now? Apparently, “JUST KIDDING!” Yep, Walt Disney World has since announced the area will reopen in Spring 2019. Read more about it on Laughing Place.
- Doctor of Credit reports that major retailers like Amazon and Home Depot are trying to negotiate a deal with credit card issuers so they can refuse certain credit cards from a network. Since cards Visa Infinite cards, like the Sapphire Reserve, charge a higher fee per purchase, retailers want to be able to exclude purchases with those cards.
- Tharin from Attractions Magazine posted some updated photos of and a few new rumors about the upcoming Harry Potter themed roller coaster at Universal Studios Resort’s Islands of Adventure.
- We’re no strangers to flying for a meal. I was glad to see we’re not the only ones who do this. On View From The Wing, Gary’s favorite sushi chef from Austin moved to Chicago. So he flew to Chicago to visit the chef’s the new location for a meal.
- On Flying High On Points, they scored the ultimate upgrade, the Penthouse Panoramic Luxury Suite at the Delano in Las Vegas and shared a video of the unbookable room.
