Happy Sunday to all of our travel friends, near and far! Here are some articles we’ve read from other bloggers (and other sources) that we think you may like, as well, so we’re passing them along.
- John from LoyaltyLobby lets us know that Icelandair and Norwegian are now participating in TSA Pre✓. One of the quirks of the TSA program is that airlines need to opt into the program. To do so, airlines are required to meet TSA Security requirements and upgrade their reservation system to sync with the Secure Flight prescreening system. Low cost carriers, like these two, haven’t participated because of the increased expense required to meet these guidelines. I guess customers have complained about having to stand in the long TSA lines just because the airlines didn’t want to pay to update a computer system.
- Gary from View from the Wing found a story about what happens when you accidentally check that you’re a terrorist when filling our your ESTA form before traveling to the United States. Like Gary says, anyone who says yes to this question obviously has done so by mistake. The story reminded me of this stand up bit by Janeane Garofalo. (Sorry for the commercial, it’s the only place I could find the video).
- I know that I have some camping friends out there so I was interested in this article from Holly on Frugal Travel Guy about the best card to use to pay for a campground vacation. I’d also add in that since gas is usually one of the biggest expenses if you’re hauling a camper, make sure to use a card that gives the best rewards for that category.
- Half the fun of visiting Universal Orlando’s Wizarding World of Harry Potter is experiencing all the delicious food there that can’t be found anywhere else. Michael from Inside The Magic give a run down on some of the best things to eat there.
- Ben from No Mas Coach asks what’s wrong with breakfast in the United States. He’s complied a slide show comparing food served outside the U.S. to the most disgusting food he’s seen at various hotel breakfast buffets in the U.S. This is one the reasons I don’t find a free hotel breakfast to be such a big deal but one redeeming factor of the W New Orleans French Quarter was the free breakfast at SoBou. (If you are offended by language, Ben uses a few NSFW words in the article.)
- Since I consider coffee to be a part of every day, including when we travel, here’s a article from Doctor of Credit showing how to get a Starbucks $5 eGiftcard when buying a $10 eGiftcard with Masterpass. If you don’t know about Masterpass, check out our article about why you need to have an account.
- After a multi-month long update, the second half of the World of Disney at Walt Disney World’s Disney Springs shopping and dining district reopened earlier this week. Jeremiah of Laughing Place gives a tour of the store’s new look, as well as two new merchandise lines that have started.
- Lastly, I’d like to congratulate Ben (Lucky) from One Mile at a Time on his recent marriage. If you’d been following his blog for a while, you’ve been along for the ride from when he first mentioned Ford, now his husband, on the blog to their surprise engagement trip and now their wedding. I mean, who doesn’t like looking at wedding pictures?
