Happy Sunday to all of our travel friends, both near and far! Here are some articles we’ve read from other bloggers (and other sources) that we think you may like, as well, so we’re passing them along.
- Tom from Disney Tourist Blog visited the newly renovated rooms at Disney’s Old Key West Resort, the original Disney Vacation Club property at Walt Disney World. We’ve stayed there many times so I was very interested to see how the updated rooms look.
- Gary from View from The Wing shares his feelings on the “Window Shade” Controversy and the cabin lighting issue that keeping the shades up creates. What about you? Are you a window shade up or window shade down person?
- We know that the televisions in the airport are all tuned to the airport TV station, but inside the club lounges, there’s usually a selection of different cable stations showing. Lucky from One Mile at a Time wrote about how American will no longer be showing any of the national news channels at the bars inside the lounges and instead will show cooking shows, sports events or local news The supposed reasoning is they want to prevent fights between passengers who have different political views. I guess they’ll just to fight over which team is better at whatever sportsing event is on the TV instead.
- If you’ve ever wanted to feel what it’s like to be on a high speed police chase (anybody? anybody?), Seth at Attractions Magazine reports that the world’s first Police Chase Experience is now open. It’s in Las Vegas (of course) and there are several tiers of chases to choose from. Oh, and for more excitement, Erik Estrada is the star of the on-site video training guest watch before driving an actual police car. Because of course he is 😉
- I understand the struggle that Nick from Frequent Miler is going through since I also missed out on getting out 50% bonus miles on the AMEX Everyday Preferred by two transactions.
- Loyalty Lobby wrote about a new fee being added to all tickets departing Japan. It’s only ¥1,000 so most passengers won’t even notice the increase and nothing like charges that other countries place on their tickets.
- Now that SPG is going away for good, Ed from Pizza in Motion is starting to realize all of the things that made SPG different and how he’s going to miss them.
- This article on Take Me To The Points describes a trap easily fallen into, overvaluing points by not looking into viable alternatives with other programs or even with paying cash.
