How To Learn About The Food On Your Upcoming Flight

a tray of food on a tray

When people fly nowadays, it’s pretty rare to get a full meal, unless you’re in First or Business Class, or are on a particularly long flight (and even then, especially on low-cost carriers, meals may only be available for purchase). If you know where to search, you can sometimes find out what a specific airline usually offers as a meal for your particular flight, but each airline “hides” this information in a different place on its respective website and it can take some time to find it if you’re not used to looking for such things. However, the mystery is now solved if you want to easily know ahead of time what food you may get on your next flight.

InflightFeed.com has done all of the poking around airlines’ websites so you can have a bunch of airline food info at your fingertips. As their website says, their website “…has information on 150 airlines worldwide allowing you to see how to order special meals, find out what food might be for sale inflight, how to upgrade your inflight meal and general inflight meal information.”

Quick & Easy Directions To Learn What Food Should Be Available On Your Flight*

  1. Go to https://www.inflightfeed.com/
  2. Click on AIRLINE FOOD DIRECTORY
  3. Type in the name of your airline in the blue search function (You can also search airline food information based on airline alliances such as: Star Alliance, Skyteam, or One World)
  4. Click on the name of your airline
  5. Follow the instructions as needed

*Kindly remember that no meal is guaranteed. Even the availability of special-ordered specialty meals can sometimes change due to extenuating circumstances.

The website also offers a section called Inflight Reviews (reviews & photos of meals from select routes of select airlines), and information about The Inflight Food Trip, which is the documentary the website Admins are in the midst of producing.

But Wait, There’s More! 😉

Besides InflightFeed.com, there’s a website that has a different view of in-flight food. AirlineMeals.net has been documenting aviation history by collecting photos of airline food since 2001. In fact, they’ve collected almost 40,000 images from more than 700 airlines from around the world. They don’t appear to update their news very often (as of this writing, Virgin America is the “Airline of the month” and the latest news posted is from mid-2016), but the most important part – the photos – are up-to-date.

You can see what meals have looked like in First Class, Business Class and Economy Class, as well as what meals on low-cost carriers look like. You can even check out photos of various airlines’ special meals and crew meals! The website also has photos of over 14,000 airline menu cards, 600+ images of food from airlines lounges, as well as amenity kits and airline ads. LOTS of interesting and historical information, all at AirlineMeals.net.

A HUGE thank-you to Leah J. for the heads up of AirlineMeals.net!
