Walt Disney World evokes a lot of emotions in people, to the point where many of them really, REALLY would like to live there. In fact, it’s not unusually for superfans of the resort to say they’re going “home” when they make another visit.
Some people have daydreamed about living at Disney. But have you ever wondered how much it would actually cost to live there, say, for a full year? Fortunately, so has someone else who’s done all the math…
So yeah…it would cost, well, a lot. And I mean a LOT!
There are a couple of caveats to the video…
- It was made in mid-2016, so prices have gone up considerably since then (although really, if you’re already paying quarter of a million to stay at a Deluxe Resort, what’s a few more tens of thousands of dollars, right?)
- Of course, it would cost much less to live NEAR Disney, same as how it would be significantly cheaper to eat outside the resort than inside (if you’re interested, here are some of our favorite restaurants in Central FL that are not at theme parks), or even bought from outside and cooked your own food inside. But the question is how much would it cost to live AT Disney, not NEAR Disney…so I take that to mean everything would have to be “in house.” 😉
- It looks like you actually aren’t allowed to stay at WDW for a year. I’ve heard a hotel manager (granted, not a Disney hotel manager) say you have to change rooms every month so you’re not considered a “resident,” and I’ve read you can’t stay on property for longer than 90 days in a row, period. So you might have to go off property every 3 months, and then go back on it to reset the clock.
But let’s put all of that aside for now. So…who’s ready to pack up and move to Walt Disney World? 😉
